Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have parted ways with Mali international Mamadou Kouyate ahead of the start of the new season, Footballghana.com can report.

The Porcupine Warriors terminated Kouyate's three-year deal after he was declared surplus to requirement by the club's technical team as they gear up for the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.

The 27-year-old failed to make a competitive appearance for the two-time CAF Champions League champions after joining them in July.

The midfielder joined the Reds after a short stint with fellow Premier League side Elmina Sharks.

He was a member of Elmina Sharks' squad that participated in the Ghana Football Association Normalisation Committee Special Competition.

He has previously played for one of the most glamorous clubs in Mali, Djoliba AC before leaving to ply his trade in Egypt with El Raja Marsa Matruh.
