Asante Kotoko set to confirm George Asare as new assistant coach

Ex-Asante Kotoko defender George Asare is set to be appointed as one of the team's assistant coaches at the club, Kickgh.com reports.

The young gaffer was a member of Bashiru Hayford's team of 2007/08 season that won Ghana Premier League but he announced his retirement from football in 2012 due to a chronic knee injury.

Asare holds a UEFA license B certificate and is also a video analyst.

According to grapevine source, coach Charles Kwablan Akunnor approached him to join the club to strengthen the technical department of the Porcupine Warriors.

It's likely the German-trained coach will officially join the club next week.

It has also been revealed that Assistant Coach Akakpo Patron is likely to revert to the club's youth side as a head coach.

Asante Kotoko are currently second on the Premier A table with 14 points, just two points behind leaders Medeama SC in the on-going Normalisation Committee Special Competition.
