Asante Kotoko are set to appoint former Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu as their new head coach ahead of next season.

Coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor has confirmed to Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM that he has been told to step aside and take the reigns as Technical Director.

Footballghana.com understands that Konadu has been in touch with the club’s hierarchy since his release as Black Star No. 3.

Sunyani-based Sun City Radio have also reported the former Wa All-Star, Ghana U-20 and Black Stars B coach will be named the next coach of the record Ghana Premier League winners.

The Porcupine Warriors have won the Normalisation Committee Special Competition Tier I after beating Karela United in the final with Akonnor at the helm.

Akonnor, a former Ghana and Wolfsburg captain, led Kotoko to the Group Stages of the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup and narrowly missed out on the knockout phase.
