Asante Kotoko unveil new technical team

Ghana Premier League side, Asante Kotoko has announced a new technical team structure ahead of the second round of the season.

The new technical team is headed by Mariano Baretto who has been appointed as the new manager of the club.

Barreto will be assisted by five others including Johnson Smith and Abdulai Gazelle.

Portuguese trainers, Miguel Bruno and Pedro Manuel will serve as a video analyst and physical/injury prevention coach respectively.

However, Johnson Smith and Abdulai Gazelle have been demoted and will now serve as the assistant youth team coaches of the club.

Meanwhile Black Stars goalkeepers trainer, Issah Najahu will be in charge of goalkeepers training of the club.

Mariano Baretto and the two other Portuguese coaches have all penned down an 18 months contract with the Kumasi-based Fabulous club.

Mariano Barreto is a former Black Stars coach.

He served between 2003 and 2004, and was in charge of Ghana’s Black Meteors, during their last Olympic campaign in 2004.

The Portuguese last worked with Stumbras in Lithuania and comes to Kotoko with loads of experience having managed 12 teams.

Kotoko are currently four points behind Karela despite playing a game less.

Barretto’s first task will be an away game against Eleven Wonders when the Ghana Premier League resumes in early April.
