Asante Kotoko will not have it easy in Congo – Augustine Arhinful

Former Ghanaian international, Augustine Arhinful believes it will be difficult for Asante Kotoko to progress to the next round of the CAF Confederations Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors kicked off their Africa campaign on Sunday and recorded a slim win over CARA Brazzaville at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The Reds squandered three penalties but substitute, Yakubu Mohammed converted a late penalty to grab a win for his side.

After failing to take their chances in the first league of the preliminary round, the former Borussia Dortmund player says it will be difficult for the Reds to progress to the next round of the competition.

“For a referee to award you four penalties and you have four individuals taking the penalties to me, it seems strange.

“It is unfortunate but it becomes very difficult for Asante Kotoko in the return league because I have been told that the Congolese really don’t know if indeed the penalties awarded were genuine but I have been told they were genuine.

“In the return league, they [CARA] will say we came to your country, four penalties were awarded to you and you were able to score only one and we shall see when you come to our home grounds and we all know how intimidating homes teams are not in Ghana but in Africa can be because whenever playing away it is like going to a war,” he added.
