Asante Kotoko winger Maxwell Baako has lavished praises on coach Charles Kwablan Akunnor for guiding the side to spring an upset in Cameroon against Coton Sports.

The Porcupine Warriors surprisingly defeated Coton Sport in a five-goal thriller in the first leg of the Caf Confederation Cup final playoff on Sunday.

Baako put up an impressive performance as he scored the second goal for the Ghanaian giants in their outstanding 3-2 away win over the Cameroonian giants.

Speaking after the game, Baako revealed how coach Akunnor psyched the players towards victory ahead of the game which gingered them to record the historic victory.

“C.K is a great coach. Even before we came to Cameroon, he motivated us to win the game. So it’s not surprising that we have been able to win,” he said.

“He’s made us aware that the second leg will be a difficult game than what we met in Cameroon so we will fight and win that one too.”

Kotoko will be looking to advance to the group stage of the competition for the first time since 2008.

Coach C.K Akunnor will need to avoid defeat against Coton Sport at the Baba Yara Stadium to see them through to the group stage berth.
