Ashanti Gold held to draw by Asokwa Deportivo in friendly

Ashantigold SC clashed with Kumasi based division one side Asokwa Deportivo in a Preparatory Match at the Len Clay stadium on Saturday morning.

Coach Ricardo Da Rocha commenced the game with Frank Boateng in post, a back four of Roland Amouzou, Kwadwo Amoako, Yussif Mubarik and Musah Mohamed; a midfield trio of Razak Simpson, Latif Anabila and Marco Aurélio. Whiles Amos Addai and Emmanuel Osei Baffour operated from the wings, with Mark Agyekum as the center forward.

The First Half of the game was possessively balanced, as both teams created limited goal scoring opportunities. Godfred Aban scored from the spot just before the end of the first half to give Deportivo the lead.

Ashantigold commenced the second half with a predominantly changed setup (Except Razak Simpson), as Felix Clottey (GK), Stephen Owusu, Akwasi Nti, Razak Simpson, Stephen Banahene, Julius Ziggy, Emmanuel Owusu, Evans Obeng, Benjamin Eshun, Isaac Quansah, Walid Fuseini were introduced.

Stephen Owusu restored parity from the spot at the 47th minute after Akwasi Nti was fouled.

Ebenezer Sekyere restored Deportivo’s lead after slotting home from close range at the 52nd minute. Few minutes later, Benjamin Eshun tapped in with a low ball to restore parity for the Miners.

Both teams couldn’t take advantage of the numerous chances created in the Second Half, as the game ended in a draw (Ashantigold 2:2 Asokwa Deportivo)

The Miners will rest for Sunday and Monday, before resuming training on Tuesday (5th November, 2019) to prepare for the new season.
