Obuasi Ashanti Gold on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, recorded an important 4-1 victory over Aduana Stars in the Normalization Committee (NC) Special Competition to keep their hopes of qualifying to the next phase of the competition alive.

Miners striker, Shafui Mumuni’s hat-trick proved to be the difference on the day as it helped quench the fire of the Aduana team. Touted one of the biggest fixtures in the division, the Obuasi based side needed to win at all cost to have any chance of clinching qualification spot.

The side did not disappoint as they put up a fantastic performance to dispatch their opponents on the day. Amos Nkrumah scored one to complete Shafui’s hat-trick to cement an impressive performance.

The away side’s only goal came through a first half own goal scored by the hat-trick-hero Shafui Mumuni. Of course the player wouldn’t care after putting on a performance worthy of his man of the match award.

Following that result, Ashanti Gold has now moved into 3rd position on the log and just 2 points behind leaders Medeama SC. They could go ahead of Kotoko who come in 2nd on the table if they drop points in their next match.

Aduana on the other hand find themselves 4th on the table but with an opportunity to better that if they are able to pick up maximum points from the final 2 matches of the competition.
