Ashgold skipper Shafiu Mumuni shocked by Black Stars call-up

Ashanti Gold SC captain Shafiu Mumuni has expressed shock over his latest Black Stars call-up for the upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe next month.

Mumuni is the only outfield local player to be included in coach Kwesi Appiah's 23-man squad for te crucial matches on November 14 and 18 2019.

He scored four goals in four games for the Miners in the CAF Confederation Cup campaign and he also emerged the top scorer at the 2019 WAFU Cup of Nations where he bagged four goals in four games with a hat-trick against Ivory Coast.

Despite his impressive performances, Mumuni says he's still shocked to be called-up by Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah for the double header.

"This morning I saw my name in the squad and I was shocked. It is dew to hard work and determination", he told FOX 97.9 FM.

'The Shafiu you see in Ashantigold and the WAFU, you will see the same Shafiu in the senior national team camp".
