Astana striker Patrick Twumasi returns to Black Stars squad

Astana forward Patrick Twumasi has been recalled into the Black Stars team for the world cup qualifiers against Uganda in October.

The striker has been in blistering form for the Kazakh side Astana, scoring 11 goals so far including five in the Champions League qualifiers, but was eventually eliminated by Celtic.

The 23 year old was formerly called into the team by Coach Avram Grant ahead of the Africa Cup of nations in Gabon early this year but was dropped as he could not make the final cut.

Twumasi will be joining Raphael Dwamena and Richmond Boakye Yiadom as the attackers for the World Cup qualifiers.

The Ghanaian’s form made him a major subject in the transfer window with clubs from turkey tussling for his signature but Astana could not let their most priced asset leave.

Bursaspor were top of the clubs chasing the forward.
