Aston Villa receives injury boost with Albert Adomah set to return ahead of Leeds United clash

Aston Villa have been handed a timely boost as Ghana winger Albert Adomah is set to return from injury after almost a month on the sidelines ahead of Leeds United clash in the English Championship on Sunday.

The 31-year-old has been out of action since picking up an injury in a 4-2 win over Birmingham City on November 25.

Villa manager Dean Smith has revealed Adomah is close to returning from injury after he resumed training last week, however, it was too early to make the team for Saturday's 2-2 draw with Stoke City.

“There’s not really an update on [Jack] Grealish but I’m expecting Adomah to come back for Leeds," Villa manager Dean Smith has said, as reported by his club's official website.

“I’m expecting Lansbury to be back as well, [Mile] Jedinak too – even [Birkir] Bjarnason as well.

"Hopefully I am spoilt for choice next week.”

The former Middlesbrough player has featured in 15 games and has provided a pair of assists for Villa so far this season.

Meanwhile, he is yet to break his deadlock in the league, a sharp contrast to his outstanding goalscoring form last season where Adomah scored 15 goals, finishing the clubs top scorer, to help Villa secure a play-off place and defeat his old side Middlesbrough in the two semifinals to reach the final.

He played in the final, as Villa lost 1–0 to Fulham in the final and thus missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

He joined Aston Villa on the transfer deadline day for an undisclosed fee, swapping directions with Adama Traoré who signed for his old club Middlesbrough.
