Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, has spoken of his frustration after his side missed several clear cut opportunities during their 1-0 defeat at Sevilla last Sunday.

Steven N'Zonzi's 73rd minute strike condemned Atletico to their first defeat of the season as they slipped down to fifth in La Liga, whilst their opponents Sevilla climbed up to second, only a point behind leader's Real Madrid.

Midfielder Koke was sent off later on in the match, having been shown a second yellow card, which helped furthercompound Simeone's woes.

After the match though, the manager was keen to focus on his side's profligacy in front of goal instead, with Angel Correa particularly guilty, having missed a glorious chance to give his side the lead.

He toldFootball Espana:"We had good chances in the first half to break open the game. When you have good chances and play as well as we did, it is normal that you go ahead.

"It didn't happen, though. After half-time the game was heading down the same path, and then came the move from Sevilla. It was a tough game, difficult.

"As I said beforehand, both of us are aiming to keep in there competing with Real Madrid and Barcelona. We were close in the first half to what we wanted to find. I am leaving here pretty relaxed as the team played as we hoped."

Atletico will have to dust themselves down this week as they prepare to host Malaga next weekend. They currently sit in fifth place but only three points off of bitter rivals Real Madrid at the top, which explains why Simeone remained upbeatdespitewasting a good performance.
