Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone believes thathis forward Antoine Grizmann is a potential Ballon d'Or winner after the Frenchman scored twice in the 5-0 thrashing of Sporting Gijon onSaturday evening.
The Euro 2016 top scorer has had a great year so far and Simeone will be backing the striker to get into that top three shortlist and go on to pick-up the award -most probably bebattling with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
But first he has the likes of Gareth Bale,Neymar, Robert Lewandowski and Luis Suarez to compete within order to get into the top three.
Simeone: "Last year Griezmann best player in Europe, scoring many goals to reach CL and Euro finals. I hope he is up there for Ballon D'Or"
In his post-match news conference, as quoted byESPN,Simeone was talking about his consistency, form andgoal-scoring record, and why he should win the most prestigious individual award in the game:
"For me, last year Griezmann was the best player in Europe, I have no doubt about what I say. He reached the finals of both the Champions League and Euro 2016, scoring many goals, and scored many goals in La Liga too.
"The consistency he has makes him stronger. I hope he is up there for the Ballon d'Or, as he is in great form, and will get even better if he continues like this."

Griezmann did himself comment on the matter, only to state that "Cristiano Ronaldo willbeat me to the Ballon d'Or'",after the Real Madrid winger won the Euros against France in July, but he hassince expressed his desire to win the award and won't give up without a fight.
