Augustine Arhinful: Calls for Avram Grant's dismissal now are misplaced

Ex Ghana player Augustine Arhinful has stated that sacking Black Stars coach Avram Grant now will not make sense.

There has been calls by some Ghanaians for the exit of the Israeli trainer.

Notable among those calling for the head of Grant is former Ghana Football Association chairman Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe.

But with Ghana preparing for their game against Egypt next month, Arhinful explains it will be unwise to let go of Grant.

“I have said that everybody has their own opinion on issues like this but as a former footballer the question we need to ask ourselves is that, looking at the days left for the Egypt clash, will it be a good option to sack Avram Grant,' he said on Asempa FM

“In as much that there are problems looming in the team, we need to have peace before we play the Egyptians because after playing them in Cairo we have limited time to play in the AFCON. If you ask me, I will say the timing is bad if we should sack Avram Grant.

“We need peace to help the players to play for the country because I believe we can go to Egypt and surprise them. I am not those people who think we will not qualify for the world cup but there are a lot of things we need to do to improve the performance of the team and I know people will have different opinion on this but sacking Avram Grant on this stage will be very bad so if we have any decision to take, that decision must come after the AFCON but what Dr. Nyaho said, I will leave it in the hands of Ghanaians.” He added.
