AWCON Qualifiers: Mercy Tagoe insists Black Queens players were intelligent than Nigeria despite defeat

Black Queens head coach Mercy believes her charges were more intelligent than their Nigerian counterparts despite defeat last Wednesday.

Ghana suffered a 2-0 defeat to Nigeria in the first leg of the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations Qualifiers (AWCON) and will have to overturn the scores to secure qualification to the tournament to held in Morocco.

Despite the side defeat, Mercy Tagoe insists her players are far ahead in terms of intelligence.

“We played well, tactically we were very disciplined we came to play football unfortunately the Nigerians are stronger and tougher than we are. But when it comes to intelligence, we are far ahead of them.” Tagoe emphasized

“When you are playing away game it’s not easy so we are going back to the drawing board to correct our mistakes.”

The return leg is slated for Cape Coast Stadium in Ghana this weekend.
