AZ Alkmaar coach Pascal Jansen reiterates trust in striker Myron Boadu

The manager for AZ Alkmaar, Pascal Jansen has stressed his trust in striker Myron Boadu despite his slow start to the season with respect to goals.

The Dutch-striker who is of Ghanaian descent was in explosive form during the 2019/2020 season before it, unfortunately, had to be canceled as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.

In that season, the 20-year-old scored 14 goals and provided eight assists after featuring in 24 matches for AZ Alkmaar.

This season, he has not been that potent in front of goal having only found the back of the net four times in 14 matches.

In the midst of criticisms, coach Pascal Jansen has refused to lose trust in the 20-year-old. According to him, the striker is still very young and will hurt any opponent when given the support.

“He may be doing less this season when it comes to goals and assists, but we must not forget that he is still very young. He has peaks and troughs and the trick is to make those troughs last as short as possible,” the gaffer said in an interview.

Coach Pascal Jansen added, “Myron is lightning fast. If he gets a little more space from the opponent, he can become just as effective as in those games last season.”

Meanwhile, Myron Boadu’s teammate Calvin Stengs has also backed him to score more goals to help AZ Alkmaar before the end of the season.
