Midfielder, Baba Mahama is impressed with the significant impact Kotoko are making in the second round of the 2016/17 Premier League. In a post-match interview with Asantekotokosc.com Baba Mahama spoke well of the team spirit and pointed out that, there was still more work to be done.

Kotoko struggled to win matches at the latter stage of the first round but the team, under Coach Steven Polack has been picking good form gradually in the second round. In five league matches, Kotoko have won three and drawn two. After beating Wa All Stars 2-1 in Kumasi, the Porcupines showed fine strength to beat Dwarfs 1-0 away.

Baba Mahama grabbed the only goal of the match in a perfect two-man move initiated by Jackson Owusu and Emmanuel Gyamfi who was eventually adjudged the NASCO Man of the Match. The win ended Dwarfs unbeaten home run this season. Baba Mahama believes that the team’s performance would get better with time.

“Things wasn’t easy for me initially. I’m happy that, with time and hard training, I’m settling at Kotoko. I’ve started scoring as I used to do with my former club. I want to give credit to Coach Polack. The tactical lessons he gives to us have brought changes into my style of play. It keeps me sending me from strength to strength” he noted.

He described Wednesday’s win over Dwarfs not only as a sweet revenge of last seaosn’s 4-1 loss to Dwarfs in Cape Coast but also a morale booster to their title aspiration. “The win has revived our title hopes. We will keep our focus and press hard for more wins” he said.
