Ghanaian international, Baba Mensah has shared his delight to the progress of his Ilves following their recent 2-1 victory against HJK Helsinki 2-1 in the opening fixture of the playoffs over the weekend.

The defender has been outstanding for his club throughout the regular season and was in action on Saturday when they started off their campaign in the playoffs of the Finish Veikkausliiga.

Sharing his thoughts after the triumph over Helsinki, Baba noted that he is not looking for glory but always prioritizes the success of his team because that is the most important thing.

“Thanks only for the encouragement, but I do not like to talk about my individual achievements. I am a small part of the team that will work best as a whole. I just try to be as prepared as possible in every game and situation”, he shared when he was being praised for after the game.

He added, “When I compare this to the previous, we have improved further. At the beginning of the season, we set hard goals without fear. We have left a clear mark on our expertise. Euro cup is already in place, but the medal is still in the final match.

“It's a really important match. Otherwise, we are not just going to play but want and need a win. In the final game of the season, everything is on the field, Mensah promises”.

Last year, Baba was adjudged the Most Valuable Defender in the league for his consistently impressive performances.

The 25-year-old has now set sight on achieving glory with Ilves at the end of the playoff period.
