Bad News as Tottenham Midfielder Mousa Dembele Suffers Fresh Injury Setback

Published on: 12 October 2016

Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele's nightmare start to the season looks set to continue after he sustained a fresh foot injury in training.

The 29-year-old, who was recovering from a hamstring injury following a four-game suspension, will miss Tottenham's upcoming game against West Bromand will also be adoubt for the trip to Bournemouth next weekend.

His left-foot was reportedly stamped on in training, prompting concern from Tottenham's medical staff who saw the Belgian midfielder ruled out for five weeks last season with an injury to the same foot.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino said:"He had a minor problem in his hamstring against Sunderland. Then it was good but he got a knock in his foot, an old problem, and now he's recovering from that...

"It was in training. It's minor but it's painful for him. When he touches the ball, it's painful for him."

Prolific striker Harry Kane is another man on Tottenham's injury list, but Pochettino insists his star man is recovering well and will start training at the end of this week.

"At the end of this week, maybe he can start to train and touch the grass a little bit. He's very positive, he's doing well," he added.

"We hope that next week he'll be training on the grass, on the pitch - still not with the group - but we're happy in the way he is recovering from his injury."

Pochettino went on to bemoan the international break, claiming that it is a long time for his side to maintain the level of intensity that saw off Pep Guardiola's side 11 days ago.

"It's not difficult because we're young but we have experienced players," Pochettino said.

"Our job is to be realistic. We only got three points from Manchester City. It was a good game, we played well, it was exciting but we need to be clever.

"We need to understand it's a tough game against West Brom. We need to play with the same intensity, same passion."
