Barcelona Chief Responds to Manchester United's Alleged Interest in £135m Move for Star Forward

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has responded to Manchester United's apparent interest in acolossal £135m potential move for Luis Suarez by insisting that the Uruguayan is happy at the club.

Suarez left the Premier League in 2014, but Manchester United are looking to tempt him back to England with a potential world record fee, according to reports in Spanish news outletDon Balon.


The former Liverpool man left Anfield in a £75m deal and has since gone on to win the Champions League and two La Liga titles, scoring a whopping 94 goals in 145 games for Barcelona in the process.

Not only have reports in Spain tipped United to land the 29-year-old, but bookmakers Ladbrokes have placed Jose Mourinho's side as4/1 favouritesto sign Suarez.


But Barca chief Bartomeu has played down speculation regarding the future of his star forward, and also revealed that the Spanish giants are desperately trying to tie the Uruguayan down to a new contract.


"We read, we listen, we see this news, but of course, our interest in this particular case is that Luis Suarez is happy at Barcelona," he told Sky Sports.

"For me, he is probably the best striker in Europe and we want him to be with us.


"Right now, we are trying to extend his contract with Barcelona and he is one of our big future efforts because he is still young, he has a vision, a lot of ambition.


"He is happy at Barcelona and together with Lionel Messi and Neymar, they are really very dangerous."


The Red Devils have struggled in front of goal recently, having only netted once in four Premier League matches.Suarez could be the man to put the ball in the back of the net at Old Trafford in the near future.
