Barcelona have confirmed a contract extension with kit manufacturers Nike which will see the La Liga giants earn at least £140m a year, beginning in 2018.

The long-term extension is the most lucrative deal of its kind in football, overtaking Manchester United's £750m deal with Adidas.

"It is a figure which puts us No 1 in the world for sponsorship in the sports industry," Barca vice-president Manuel Arroyo said duringclub's annual general meeting on Saturday.

"The fixed rate of the contract increases 48 per cent and the royalties also increase. From this season (2018-19), the total turnover of the deal will be around 155m euros."

Nike have beenmanufacturingBarcelona's kits since 1998 and this new deal will see the partnership continuing until 2023, at which point Barca have the option to extend for a further five years.

The deal is a further boost to Barcelona's staggering revenue, after the Catalan club announced a record turnover of £612m last season.

Club presidentJosep Maria Bartomeu also confirmed he is in the process of working through contract renewals for star attackers Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez after the news that Brazilian superstar extended his current deal by five years last week.

"These strikers are spectacular. Believe that our principal objective is that they all stay here," Bartomeu said of Barcelona's attacking trio.

"Neymar has renewed and now we are trying so that Suarez stays here for many years to come and then we will speak with Messi of course. He is the catalyst, the one that makes everything else function."
