Ghanaian trainer Bashir Hayford has applied for the technical director role at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), footballghana.com can report.

According to a report from Kumasi FM, Ghana FA has communicated to current technical director, Mr. Oti Akenteng that there will not be a renewal to his contract when it ends in March 2020.

This means that the position will become vacant after March, thereby leaving the country’s football governing body to hire a new brain.

In an interview with Bashir Hayford, the former Asante Kotoko head coach has confirmed that he has applied for the job.

“Yes I was told to that the FA is looking for a technical director and with my knowledge and experience in coaching I have applied without any lobbing”, he said.

Coach Bashir Hayford who recently parted ways with the Somalia National team also adds that he is hopeful of landing the job and will be disappointed if the GFA goes in for a foreigner.

“I will be very happy if I'm giving the job and it will be so sad should the FA appoint a foreigner”, the former Black Queens head coach added.
