Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana, congratulated the Ghana Black Stars on their hard-fought 1-0 win over South Africa on Sunday evening at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in the last stage of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) World Cup.

Andre Dede Ayew's wonderfully executed penalty kick in the 33rd minute was enough to earn Ghana a spot in the playoffs to compete for a place in next year's World Cup in Qatar.

“Congratulations to the Black Stars for topping Group G to qualify for the World Cup play-offs following a hard-fought victory over South Africa.”

“Sorry to Bafana Bafana for missing the play-off by a whisker,” he added.

Ghana progressed with a goal advantage against South Africa and will be one of 10 countries to compete in the play-offs.
