Bayer Leverkusen striker Chicharito: I defended Real Madrid shirt to death

Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez is proud of time with Real Madrid.

The 28-year-old spent the 2014/15 season on loan at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, scoring nine goals in 33 appearances that were largely off the bench.

"Nobody wants to be a substitute, we all want to play but I always defended the shirt to the death," Hernandez stated to Onda Cero.

On Real's chances against Champions League opponents Bayern Munich, Chicharito insisted the tie was wide open.

"It is open, in Germany they will feel that Real gave Bayern mercy in the first leg," he noted.
