Javier Hernandez has refuted suggestions that he needs to see a hypnotist to help him end his goal drought with Bayer Leverkusen.
The striker poured scorn on the issue when asked by ESPN Mexico whether he would consider following in the footsteps of France forward Andre-Pierre Gignac, who ended his own barren spell in front of goal after having sessions with famous hypnotist John Milton.
Gignac had gone 862 minutes without scoring for club side Tigres but, after seeing Milton, has now found the back of the net six times in as many games - including a hattrick in the 5-0 victory over Pumas on November 27.
Hernandez, however, insists he does not need outside help to combat his own drought, which stretched to 1,249 minutes ahead of the enforced winter break in Germany's top flight.
He said: "I don't need any hypnotist to be what I am. It is sad. It is something that has to be changed in the Mexican mentality. I'm never going to call out somebody to gain fame. I've never needed a hypnotist.
"I know that sooner or later the goals will come. I'm fine, I'm relaxed. I don't play this sport to score goals, but to play football, to play World Cups and Champions [League]."
Chicharito is linked to MLS at every transfer window by MLS. That is one of the most MLSest of MLS traditions.
The calls for 'Chicharito' to use hypnotherapy come just days after Milton himself had said he would use his expertise to help the Mexico international find his goalscoring touch again, if Hernandez wanted to seek out his help.
Milton had said: "[Hernandez] is one of the best goal scorers in the history of the Mexico national team. Right now he is in a rut -- a scoring drought and definitely some type of trauma that is not letting him do what we know he does well.
"Hypnosis does not work miracles; what it does is focus him and clean out garbage so that he can do what we know he does well.
"If contact is made or any kind of interview with him is done, I cannot talk about it. If [we end up doing a therapy session], I am in the best disposition to help whoever I want -- to improve any psychological, psychosomatic or emotional problems. With pleasure, if [Chicharito] looks for me, I'll get on the boat."
Rumours have circulated in recent days that Hernandez could be sold by Leverkusen due to his lack of goals this term - speculation that the 28-year-old has since denied by stating his happiness to remain with his employers.
Chicharito last scored for Bundesliga side Leverkusen in a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund on October 1, and will next have the opportunity to bag his first goal in three months when Roger Schmidt's men return to action on January 22 against Hertha Berlin.
