Bayern Munich Dealt Injury Blow After Midfielder Thiago Alcantara Picks Up Thigh Problem

Bayern Munich have been left to sweat on the fitness of influential playmaker Thiago Alcantara, after the club confirmed that the Spaniard has picked up a thigh injury during training.

Thiago has made 21 appearances for the Bavarians this season and has both three goals and three assists to his name.


Having joined the club back in 2013, the 25-year-old has built on the promise he showed whilst playing at Barcelona and has become a key component of the Munich midfield.

However, he is likely to be out of action for a couple of weeks after sustaining a thigh injury during Bayern's mid-season training camp out in Qatar. The Bundesliga is currently in the midst of a winter break which sees all of the German club-sides enjoy four weeks rest.

With the second half of the season set to resume on 20th January, Thiago is now a major doubt to play forleague leaders Bayern when they travel to eighth placed Freiburg.


The current Bundesliga champions cemented their position as league leaders with a 3-0 victory over title challengers RB Leipzig last time out and they will now be hoping that their midfield maestro can return to action soon, as they look to the defend their crown for a fourth consecutive year.
