Bayern Munich Let Ousmane Dembele Slip Through Their Grasp After Negotiating With the Wrong Agent

Published on: 04 October 2016

Bayern Munich reportedly missed out on the potential signing of exciting prospect Ousmane Dembele by mistakenly speaking to the wrong representative in their initial negotiations, as reported byGoal.com.

The 19-year-old instead left Ligue 1 outfit Rennes for Bayern's rivals Borussia Dortmund, who took advantage of the mishap.

Bayern's mistake has so far looked costly, with Dembele producing vibrant displays in his five Bundesliga starts, scoring one goal and laying on two goals for his teammates.

Dortmund signed the France international for a reported fee of€15m during the summer after his starring performances in Ligue 1, where he scored 12 goals and produced five assists. A number of top European clubs were credited with an interest in the winger, including Bayern.

But according to report by German publication SportBild, the Bundesliga champion's technical director Michael Reschke began negotiations withBadou Sambague- Dembele's former agent instead of his current representative Marco Kirdemir.

It is understood both teams started negotiations with Dembele and his representatives towards the end of 2015, but Dortmund ultimately won the race for his signature after Bayern's mishap.

The former Rennes star revealed last month that he had settled in well with his new teammates and feels it is being reflected on the pitch.

"I feel really happy in this team," he told Bundesliga.com."I'm playing football with some great guys.

"We all understand each other really well. We enjoy playing football and have a good time on the pitch. You can see that in our game. If we get the right results, that's even better."

Dortmund, after suffering a 2-0 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday, remain in third place in the Bundesliga, four points behind Bayern Munich.
