ViaHITC SPORT, former Tottenham Hotspur forward Garth Crookshas spoken about his concerns regarding Arsenal full-back Kieran Gibbs. His issues lie in the fact he doesn't believe the injury-prone defender can stay fit foran entire season.
Crooks' comments follow Arsenal's demolition of Sunderland over the weekend, when the Gunners cruised to a 4-1 victory at the Stadium of Light.
Replacing Nacho Monreal in the starting lineup (the Spaniard has thus far been Wenger's preferred choice at left-back), Gibbs completed the full 90 minutes. Evidently, impressed with what he saw, Crooksincluded the England internationalin his BBC Premier League Team of the Week.
But despite the variousplaudits, the 58-year-old has questioned whether Gibbs can maintain this level of performance throughout an entire campaign.
He hasn't played many games this season, mainly because of injuries, Crooks suggests.
However, when he does play, Arsenal always look far more adventurous down their left flank.
There is no doubting Kieran Gibbs' technical ability, lovely poise and delightful left foot, but I do worry about his ability to stay the course of a full season.
This is a big season for Arsenal and it's time Gibbs came of age and made this position his own.Besides, England can always do with another good left-back.
The Gunners are back in action on Tuesday evening when they faceLudogorets Razgrad in the Champions League - the match will take placeaway from home, at the Vasil Levski National Stadium in Bulgaria.
