Bechem United defender Samuel Osei Kuffour handed two-match ban for stamping on Kotoko’s Mbella

The Disciplinary Committee (DC) of the Ghana Football Association has handed Bechem United defender Samuel Osei Kuffour, a two-game ban for stamping on Asante Kotoko forward, Frank Mbella.

Kuffour stamped on Etouga’s arm during a Ghana Premier League game between the Hunters and the Porcupine Warriors which ended 0-0.

The player as part of the sanction has been fined GHC1,000.

A statement from the Ghana FA reads, “Osei Kuffour is charged with a breach of Article 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, 2019,” the GFA published after the incident.

“According to the charge sheet, Samuel Osei Kuffour did intentionally kick player number 11 of Asante Kotoko SC (Frank Thierry Etouga Mbella) in an off-ball situation, an action which in the opinion of the association is an improper behavior and likely to bring the game into disrepute.”

“The player is expected to respond to the charge by 5:00 pm on Thursday, March 10, 2022, failing which the GFA Disciplinary Committee will proceed to adjudicate the case without his Statement of Defence”, the charge read.

The GFA has now announced the decision of the Disciplinary Committee after the hearing, along with the accompanying sanctions.

Kuffour has, according to the ruling by the DC, “is found Guilty of the charge by the Committee” and has been handed a fine of GHC1,000, a two-match ban and a caution against future behaviour.
