Black Maidens beat Gambia to set up clash with Djibouti in final round of FIFA U-17 women world Cup qualifiers

Ghana's female national under-17 team, the Maidens beat Gambia 2-0 to progress to the final round of qualifiers for the FIFA Women's U-17 World Cup. 

Lady strikers midfielder Suzzy Dede opened the scoring with five minutes to end the game before sensational striker Abdulai Mukarama sealed victory in the final minute.

The Black Maidens huffed and puffed in search of an opener but the Gambians were resolute in defence making sure the game ended goalless after 45 minute.

Coach Evans Adotey came back in the second half with a different approach to unlock the Gambians but it took until the final five minutes for the game to turn on the visitors.

Ghana progress to the final round of the qualifiers where they face Djibouti after a 7-1 aggregate scoreline.

The final phase of qualifiers will be played in February next year on the weekend of 2nd to 4th.
