Black Maidens management committee head Augustine Asante has praised the team for winning their second group game against the USA on Tuesday.

The Maidens are back in contention for a place in the knockout stage after defeating the USA 2-1 at the ongoing FIFA Women's World Cup in Jordan.

The Black Maidens rallied from a goal down to stun the Americans in Amman.

'We are proud of the girls because many thought we were going out today but they made it,' he said

'Nobody expected them to win this game after what happened in our first game, but i must say they have relaly done well.

The Black Maidens will take on Paraguay in their final group D game on Friday where a win will ensure their progression into the next stage.
