Black Maidens of Ghana skipper Basira Alhassan has expressed her disappointment in the lack of goals against Liberia in the first-leg of the 2020 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup qualifier.

Ghana recorded a 2-0 victory over Liberia at the Antoinette Tubman Sports Stadium on Sunday.

A goal apiece from Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah and Salamatu Abdulai gave Coach Mallam Nuhu’s side a huge advantage ahead of return leg.

After a goalless first-half, Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah opening the scoring in the 63rd minute through a direct free-kick before Salamatu Abdulai sealed the win in the 83rd minute of the game.

Despite a positive away result, Alhassan wanted her side to score more goals in the encounter.

"To me that was not what we were expecting, we wanted to score more goals for our coach because that was what we were supposed to do, so what I will say is we have to go back to Ghana and train well so that we can make our coach proud by scoring more goals for him," she said in her post-match interview.
