The Ghana U23 have been drawn in Group A of the upcoming Africa U23 Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Black Meteors team have been drawn in the same group as host Morocco, Guinea and Congo.

In an interview with Koforidua-based Bryt FM, the Bibiani Goldstars trainer asserted that the main target for the Black Meteors is to qualify for the Olympic Games next year but said his outfit will have an eye on the title.

“It’s a tournament and ones there is a trophy we have to target it. We have quality considering our performance against Algeria in the final qualifiers. We are not going to the tournament just to participate but we have to get a target, and the main target is to finish among the top three countries and qualify for the Olympic Games but all the same there is trophy on it and so we have to go for it”

The tournament will serve as a qualification competition for next year's summer Olympic Games in Paris.

Ghana qualified for the tournament after beating Mozambique and Algeria in the qualifiers.

Coach Ibrahim Tanko is expected to name a strong squad for the competition, which begins on June 23 and ends on July 8, as Ghana eyes a return to the Olympic Games.

The Black Meteors last played at the Olympic Games in 2004 in Athens.
