Black Meteors of Ghana head coach Ibrahim Tanko has set sights on winning the 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations title in Egypt.

Ghana have been drawn in group A alongside hosts Egypt, Mali and Cameroon for the 8-team competition from November 8 to 22.

Speaking at the team's camp during a meeting with the newly elected GFA executives, the former Borussia Dortmund player called for support from Ghanaians in his bid to clinch the trophy.

“Your visit means a lot to us. This is your first official day in office and we are really happy and encouraged that you have remembered us with this visit,” said Ibrahim Tanko.

“We can assure you that we will go to Egypt and fight for the nation. We don’t want to just go and qualify; we want to go there and win the trophy for our country Ghana, in shaa Allah."

Ghana have not featured at the Olympic Games since 2004 in Athens and coach Ibrahim Tanko will be seeking to break that jinx in Egypt next month.

Meanwhile, the former Ghana international has handed call ups to 11 foreign-based players ahead of the start of the tournament.
