Black Princesses financial needs met; team set to leave for Australia training tour on Tuesday

The national female under 20 team, the Black Princesses have finally received the green light to embark on their World cup training tour after the Sports ministry met their financial needs.

The team was scheduled to leave Accra on Friday October 28, 2016 for Kent, Australia to prepare for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World cup slated for November 13 in Papua New Guinea but the trip was cancelled due to financial challenges.

However, after several meetings with the sector minister Nii Lante Vanderpuje, the team is now set to travel for Kent’ Australia on Tuesday, November 1 for a seven day camping before traveling for the tournament proper.

In an interview with Joy FM, management committee chairman of the Black Princesses Mr. Kweku Eyiah revealed the team’s arrangements for the tournament.

“We expect to leave Ghana on the 1st and get to Australia on the 3rd and then in Australia we will play three friendly matches before leaving on the 10th for Papua New Guinea.”

“Last week I was the most frequent visitor to the sports ministry and I had assurance from the sector minister concerning our financial needs and finally it has been delivered.”

Ghana have been drawn against favourites United States, France and New Zealand in Group C of the tournament to be staged by Papua New Guinea from November 13 to December 3, 2016.
