Black Satellites midfield enforcer Emmanuel Essiam feels disappointed as the team will not get the opportunity to showcase their talents at the biggest stage in youth football as the Fifa U-20 World Cup has been cancelled.
The tournament was cancelled by the world football governing body due to the coronavirus pandemic.
FIFA announced the decision two months before the Black Satellites enplaned to Mauritania for the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Ghana defeated Uganda in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations final on Saturday to clinch their fourth title on the continent but unfortunately for them they will not have the chance to play at the world cup due to the cancellation.
Reacting to the decision by FIFA, Essiam expressed disappointment as he believe they could have made the country proud at the biggest stage as well.
“We are so disappointed and also it pains us for not going to the world cup this year” he told Ezra FM.
