Black Satellites to arrive in Ghana on Sunday after winning African U-20 tournament

The Black Satellites will arrive in Accra on Sunday afternoon after winning the 2021 Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania.

Captain Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored twice to help the National 20 team record a 2-0 victory over Uganda in the final match of the competition played on Saturday March 6 at the Stade Olympique de Nouakchott.

The team is scheduled to depart from its base in Nouakchott on Sunday morning and are expected to touch base in Accra later at 4pm. 

The team led by Management Committee chairman Randy Abbey will depart Nuoakchott at 10am with a Ghana Airforce plane.

The U20 African Champions will be met on arrival by the Minister of Youth & Sports Hon. Mustapha Ussif and officials of the Ghana Football Association.

The team is expected to present the trophy to H.E the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo later.

Ghana grabbed the ultimate after qualified to the quarterfinals from Group A as one o the best third placed teams where they beat Cameroon via penalty shootouts.

The team then beat Gambia by a lone after suffering a 1-2 defeat to the Gambians in the final Group match.

Coach Karim Zito’s side then put up an impressive performance to beat Uganda in the grand finale which was watched by the President of FIFA Gianni Infantino and other top football officials.
