Black Starlets Coach downplays absence of winger Ibrahim Saddick

Head Coach of the national under-17 team of Ghana, the Black Starlets, Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin has downplayed reports that winger Sadiq Ibrahim will be greatly missed after attracting two yellow cards to rule him out of the round of 16 clash against Niger.

Ibrahim Sadiq has been one of the best players in the team at the world Cup in India, after scoring the winner in the opening game against Colombia and fetching an assist in the 4-0 thrashing of India.

However, the 16 year old attracted a yellow card which will rule him out of the game against Niger but Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin insists there are capable replacements for the Right to Dream player.

“Saddick’s absence would not bring any problems for the team, we have worthy substitute who can come in and deliver and I always say how a good a team is depends on your bench. If you look at our last match I made four changes but they all did well,” Fabin said in an interview.

Ghana has played Niger thrice already this year, including the 4-2 penalties victory over the West Africans at the Africa Junior Championship earlier this year in Gabon.

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin is likely to maintain most of the players that started in the last game, with the likes of Ibrahim Sulley and Bismarck Terry Owusu all up for selection.

Defender Abdul Razak Yussif is back after recovering from a head injury that saw him miss the game against India.
