Black Stars team B coach Maxwell Konadu insists the friendly game with the Hawks of Togo to be played in Lome will give the team the needed exposure as they prepare to face fellow West Africans Burkina Faso in the Champion of African Nations qualifier.
The team has been preparing in Ghana for almost two months now but will leave the country to play Togo on Sunday in another friendly after games against Benin and Gambia.
The team made up of players from the Ghana Premier defeated Gambia 2-1 after drawing with Benin. They have played local sides Inter Allies, Tema Youth and Vision FC- all as part of preparations.
“It’s good because in the first place we are playing away from home. All our friendly matches have been played on home soil so we need the challenge outside our comfort zone,” Maxwell noted.
“It’s important to emphasis that we will be playing the first leg of the CHAN qualifier with Burkina Faso away. So we need a similar atmosphere to strengthen ourselves.
“The Togo game will present us with a similar situation against Burkina and we need it for the team. How they will react to defeat and officiating is very key ahead of the Burkina Faso game,” he added.
Ghana will be hoping to qualify for Kenya 2019 as well as make a good mark in the West Africa Football Union competition to be held in the country.
