A former Minister of Information in the NDC administration, Mr Fritz Baffour has revealed that Ghana’s loss to Cameroon at the semi-final stage at the ongoing AFCON didn’t come as shock to him.

Mr Fritz Baffuor said the national team’s failure to advance to the final was due to the lack of good forwards in the game.

“I was not surprised at all that we lost to Cameroon; it was obvious that our firepower up front was sloppy, inaccurate and lacked the requisite skills to be lethal,” he revealed.

Fritz Baffuor who was also the former Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South and an actor disclosed that he was a keen supporter of the national side but his love for the game has waned“due to the antics of the players and the woeful overall management of the great game in Ghana”.

He also called for the strengthening of the local league and the need to invest in football and athletics at the lower levels of education.

“I strongly believe in concentrating on a squad of players drawn from the local league to form the basis of a new Black Stars. We must also encourage and support school and college soccer competitions because that is where the talents lie,” he added on a post on his Facebook wall on Friday, February 3.
