AZ Alkmaar started the Eredivisie season with a 1-1 draw against PEC Zwolle. The AZ worked hard with ten men against PEC. Clint Leemans scored for the Zwolle team before recess, Myron Boadu scored to saved a point for AZ.
AZ had a hard time with the visitors from Zwolle and got it even more difficult after a red card for Calvin Stengs. The winger got red for a wild tackle on Kenneth Paal. Before half time, Clint Leemans also scored the 0-1 with a nice long shot.
PEC dropped far after the break and handed over the victory to AZ, which in the meantime continued to fight for a result. Myron Boadu rewarded the efforts of AZ, the striker poked the ball with the left in from a rebound to make it 1-1.
Zwolle also ended the game with ten men with red for Thomas Lam. The Finn made a splashing motion.
