Bologna look to offload striker to MLS

Bologna are looking to conclude a deal that would see striker Orji Okwonkwo join Major League Soccer side Montreal Impact on loan.

Bologna’s president Joey Saputo is also the owner of the Impact and the teams have regularly exchanged players with the most recent examples being Matteo Mancuso and Saipher Taider joining the Canadian side.

The MLS are in the midst of its pre-season transfer window and Sportmediaset is reporting that a loan deal for the Nigerian is moving closer to finalization.

Okwonkwo has made nine appearances across all competitions for the Rossoblu but has not managed a goal or assist this season.

The 20-year-old wouldn’t be likely to get much game time in the second half of the season as Bologna are undergoing a squad rejuvination, inspired by the arrivals of Nicola Sansone and Roberto Soriano, to try and save their season and avoid relegation.
