Borussia Dortmund's Aubameyang Confirms Manchester City and Real Madrid Interest in His Signature

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed that Manchester City held talks with his representatives in a bid to sign him during the summer.

The Borussia Dortmund footballer told French news publication Onze that the Premier League side made contact with his father - also Aubameyang's agent - about the possibility of signing the striker.

However, the Gabon international stated that the Citizens did not end up making an official offer for his services, with rumour mills speculating Dortmund had priced Aubameyang out of a move by demanding at least £58m for him.

He said: "It's true, there was contact. My father held talks with the club, but in the end there was nothing concrete."

Aubameyang also responded to rumours concerning a potential move to Real Madrid during the recent transfer window.

The 26-year-old had stated in an interview that a move to the La Liga giants would be a dream move for him.

However, Aubameyang moved to clarify his comments and, despite insisting he still harboured ambitions of turning out for Madrid, he was in no immediate hurry to do so.

He continued: "I think there was interest [from Real Madrid], but it was more distant so I didn't get too carried away.

"I was asked in interview: 'What is the club of your dreams?' I replied: 'Real is the club of my heart and I made a promise to my grandfather to play there one day, I hope it will happen.'

"So it's just a target, I still have time. If they want me, they will come."

Aubameyangjoined Dortmund from Saint Etienne in the summer of 2013 for a reported £11m.

The forward has since gone on to plunder 87 goals in just 152 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, including seven strikes in only nine games so far this season.
