Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has reaffirmed the club's stance that Mahmoud Dahoud is not for sale, despite the midfielder being linked with moves to Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.

The 20-year-old has impressed since breaking into the Gladbach first team and has been monitored by a host of European teams including Liverpool, whose manager, Jurgen Klopp is understood to be a big admirer of the youngster.

Dahoud has started just over half over his team's competitive matches this season and has the potential to become a future star.

TheExpressreported back in September that Liverpool were considering a £25m bid for the German, having watched him play in Gladbach's Champions League group match with Manchester City.

With Dortmund recently linked with the Germany U21 international, Gladbach's sporting director has vehementlydeniedthat Dahoud could leave in the Januarytransfer window and stated that no club had yet enquiredabout the player's availability.

Eberl told Kicker (as quoted byESPN):"There is no offer and there has been no offer from any club."

He added that thechances of Dahoud moving on in the forthcoming window "as of today are zero percent."

Whilst it appears the midfielder will stay put for the time being, Eberl admitted that his long term future at the club remained unclear. He did however suggest that Gladbach would try to extend Dahoud's contract in the future in a bid to ward of interest from Liverpool and Dortmund.

Eberl added:"Should he go into his final year of his contract next summer, you have to automatically consider what to do.

"But it's all speculation right now. Our wish is to extend his contract, no question. It hasn't happened yet, but we are in constant talks."
