The Ghana Premier League and the National Division One League will restart on October 30, 2020, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced today.

Football in the country has been banned for the past 6 months by the government as part of its efforts to curb the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) disease.

Following several deliberations between the country’s football governing body and the government, it has been agreed for the Premier League and the lower-tier league to make a return on October 30.

“With respect to football, after due consultations with the Ghana Football Association, it has been decided that the Ghana Premier League and the Division One Football League will restart on Friday, 30th October, with a full regime of testing of the players, technical and management staff”, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced on Sunday night during an address to the nation.

This comes as good news to the football community after waiting for the past months for the sport to return.

Training by the various teams are expected to commence in the upcoming week.
