Former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Alhaji MND Jawula has been confirmed dead according to multiple reports in the Ghanaian media.
The death of the former Board chairman of Premier League side RTU is said to have happened in the United States of America where he was receiving medical attention.
The cause of his death is not yet known but close sources say the former FA boss was indisposed.
Jawula was FA president for Ghana from 1997 to 2001.
In 1968, Jawula was admitted to the University of Cape Coast, where he completed his first degree in English and Economics. He attended the University of Ghana, Legon, where he pursued a Masters degree in African literature.
He was fortunate to have had Efua Sutherland and Ama Ata Aidoo as teachers at those two universities, who he said had a significant impact on his life.
MND Jawula later entered the public service after briefly teaching at his high school, Tamale Secondary School. He served as district chief executive in several districts in the three northern regions.
He visited Canada in 1989 as a fellow at the University of Carlton in Ottawa. Upon his return, he served in a variety of ministries, including the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Harbours and Railways, and the Ministry of Finance as an administrator and Chief Director before retiring.
