BREAKING NEWS: Inaki Williams pulls out of Ghana’s AFCON qualifier against Madagascar

Black Stars striker, Inaki Williams will not be able to feature for Ghana in the upcoming clash against Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

In a statement from the player on Monday, June 5, he said he is unable to play for the national team due to an injury.

“Since a few weeks I've been playing with pain in my right knee. I decided to play until the end of the season, but after having spoken to the medical services, we've decided to stop and solve the problem to be 100% for the preseason.

“This wasn't an easy decision to make because I won't be able to be with my national team, Ghana the next meeting,” Inaki Williams announced.

The Black Stars striker added, “I want to say that I am fully committed and I will come back with the Black Stars if the coach deems it appropriate next calls.

“Thank you for your support.”

Ghana will play away to Madagascar on June 18.

A win for the Black Stars in the last but one match of the qualifiers could secure qualification for Ghana to play at the tournament scheduled to be staged in Ivory Coast.
