Breaking News: Injunction on Ghana Premier League dismissed

Published on: 25 October 2022

The Ghana Premier League is expected to return following a decision by the Human Right Court 2 to lift the injunction placed on it by Ashanti Gold SC.

The domestic top-flight has been on hold for four weeks after Ashantigold served the Ghana FA with an injunction following their demotion to Division Two League over match manipulation.

Today, the injunction against the Ghana Premier League has been dismissed. The dismissal means that the country’s top-flight league can resume after going on suspension for several weeks.

Meanwhile, Ashantigold have been fined an amount of GHC20,000 in damages.

The latest decision means the Ghana Premier League could resume this weekend. Clubs are encouraged to intensify training while they wait for the Ghana FA to issue an official communique on the return date of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.
