In a shocking twist to events, Kumasi Asante Kotoko has parted ways with head coach Charles Kwablah Akonnor less than a year since the ex-Black Stars captain took charge of the club.

According to confirmed information, the gaffer has been asked to step aside as the manager of the club and assume the role of a technical director instead.

CK Akonnor who is no interested in that role at the moment is set to leave the club despite leading them to book qualification for the next edition of the CAF Champions League.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi based Oyerepa FM on Wednesday morning, CK Akonnor noted, “Yes it's true I am no more the coach of Kotoko. I have been asked to step aside but to take over as technical director. I can't comment, the former Black Stars captain noted.

Whiles the club is yet to make an official announcement on the issue, information reaching Modernghana sports has revealed that Kotoko is in talks with Ashanti Gold manager Kjetil Zachariassen for him to replace the outgoing CK Akonnor.
