BREAKING NEWS: Nottingham Forest closing in on signing free-agent Andre Ayew

Published on: 31 January 2023

Premier League side, Nottingham Forest are showing a late ‘interest’ in forward Andre Ayew.

The Ghana skipper is currently a free agent after leaving Qatari side, Al Sadd. He and the Qatari side agreed to terminate his contract on mutual consent, with the official announcement made on Sunday, January 29.

Andre made the move to Al Sadd from Swansea City back in 2021.

Ayew featured 29 times for Al Sadd since joining them in 2021, scoring 18 goals and providing two assists.

During his stay in Qatar, the Ghana international also won two trophies with the club, the Qatar Stars League at the end of the 2021/22 season and the Emir of Qatar Cup in 2021.

The 33-year-old veteran has bags of experience in the top flight having previously carried out spells at West Ham United and the Welsh outfit, and there’s a chance that he could be staging a comeback, with five clubs now firmly in the race for his signature.

With the transfer window set to end tonight, multiple reports in the UK suggest that the 2009 U-20 World Cup will head to Nottingham Forest.

He has also been linked to Everton and Southampton.

Andre Ayew has previously worked with Steve Cooper at Swansea City.
